“…function at the injunction…”

There was a time in our recent history when the courts tried to tell our country’s newspapers what they could and could not write about…

There was a time when our government was telling lies to their own people about the war we were fighting…

[smartads]

There was a time when you were considered a traitor to your country if you spoke out in favor of peace…

How recent is recent?…

This could easily pertain to the war in Iraq and the Bush administration, but I’m referring to a recent documentary release, entitled “The Most Dangerous Man In America”, which follows the exploits of Daniel Ellsberg and the infamous ‘Pentagon Papers’…

It was Vietnam…It was the Nixon administration…and it was one man standing up for what he believed was right…

He participated in releasing Government documents that attested to the fact that the Government had been lying to the American public…

And though others assisted, it was his initial fortitude that eventually helped to save lives and end the skirmish in Vietnam…

No one would testify against him at his trial…The government tried to buy the judge…the case was dismissed…

Courage is rarely the norm in these days of ‘political correctness’…and this documentary is a wake-up call to one and all, ‘cause our recent history shows that we didn’t pay too much attention the last time around…

Those who refuse to recognize the mistakes of the past, are doomed to repeat them…and all it can take sometimes is one person, standing for what is right…and when others help, miracles can happen…
