EDISON – The township’s most popular event, “The 2010 Fall Family Spectacular” is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 25 from 10 a.m. – 11 p.m.
Planned events for this year’s festival include well known recording artists offering music to suit all tastes, classic cars & motorcycle show, strolling performers, a petting zoo, pony rides, face painting, games of chance, dance groups, athletic contests, and much, much more. Two main stages and a local stage will offer great entertainment constantly throughout the day. Of course, the carnival rides, professional wrestling and fireworks grand finale will be the main focus for the event.
Starting promptly at 10 a.m., celebrants will be entertained by a variety of groups, acts and special attractions, tempted to an array of foods from around the world; and treated to an assortment of craft vendors and exhibitors that aim to please and interest everyone.
The two main stages at the daylong festival will begin with the 80s sounds of “Lipservice” at 10 a.m. They will be followed at 11:10 a.m. with the 60s British Invasion music of “Carnaby Street”. A not-to-be-missed Van Halen Tribute show featuring “Unchained” will kick off at 12:20 p.m. and will be followed at 1:30 p.m. by longtime Edison blues group “The Fins”. “Jobononno and the Godsons of Soul” will rock the stage at 2:40, and then changing the pace will be “The Cameos” at 4:05 p.m. with the great harmony stylings of the 50s & 60s.
The night portion gets off to a big start at 5:30 p.m. with the Motown sounds of nationally known “Smooth”. The festival then welcomes back an old friend with a big rock sound; New Jersey Legend, “John Eddie” at 7 p.m.
Closing out the musical talent at 8:45 p.m. will be Edison’s own and MTV-featured “A Clear Blurr”. “A Clear Blurr”, a festival favorite in recent years will be playing their final gig as a band, and are sure to go out with a bang.
Immediately following “A Clear Blurr”, Garden State Fireworks will light up Lake Papaianni with a spectacular aerial display that will highlight the Festival and thrill the expected thousands in attendance.
The Recreation Department welcomes all types of food vendors, craft vendors, exhibitors and performers for the upcoming event.
