UCC To Offer Free Job Training In Customer Service And English As A Second Language

ELIZABETH – From Oct. 4 to Oct. 29, Union County College’s Retail Skills Center will be offering free job training to all Elizabeth residents who qualify. The free job training will be in the areas of customer service and English as a second language.

Classes will be held daily from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Union County College’s Elizabeth I. Kellogg building at 40 W. Jersey Street in Elizabeth.

Through this programming, students will earn a 120-hour certificate from Union County College which will prepare students for a career in retail and will assist them in learning the English language. Students will learn conversational English in a store setting, store layout and design, about retail and retail store staffing, and critical work functions. Attention will also be given to resume writing and interviewing skills.

Information sessions for this class will be held on Sept. 23, Sept. 29, and Sept. 30 at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

This course is paid for under the Urban Enterprise Zone program.
