NEW BRUNSWICK – Roselle Park resident Leona M Seufert is exhibiting her artwork with six New Jersey Artists in “Discovering New Jersey” at the New Brunswick Blood Center through October 14.
Blood donors at this blood center have the unique opportunity to view and enjoy artwork while giving blood. Hung on the walls of the Blood Center donors’ room this group show revolves around the theme of how each of the artists capture and interpret various aspects of New Jersey. The photography, oils, acrylic, and digital prints range from realistic interpretations to the surreal.
Seufert’s artwork in this show reflects her travels throughout New Jersey. She frequently visits Hoboken, Jersey City, Union township and Newark and capturing each town’s uniqueness presented itself with exciting creative challenges. Her 16 pieces in this show reflect not only the town’s identities but also her edgy interpretations of their various architectural aspects. Some images take on a fantasy feeling through her manipulation of them through the application of Photoshop.
“As I travel through this diverse and fascinating state in which I live, my digital camera always tucked in my bag, I love to seek out and capture the uniqueness of the cities and towns I visit. As a digital artist, I use Photoshop to realize the vision I have in my mind’s eye: to transform the reality captured by my camera into a composition that releases some meaning from within the heart of each image.”
The Center is located at 167 New Street, New Brunswick. Hours are Tuesday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday 6:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sunday 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Call 1-800-933-2566 to confirm as the hours may change. An artists’ reception is planned for Tuesday, Sept. 28, from 5 to 8 p.m.
