Calvary Lutheran Church Adjusts Fall Worship Schedule

CRANFORD — Calvary Lutheran Church, 108 Eastman Street, Cranford will return to a fall and winter schedule with slightly different Sunday worship times. The new schedule begins on Sunday, Sept. 26.

Sunday worship services, including a full liturgy and Holy Communion, will be offered at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. (formerly 10:15 a.m.) Those attending either service will be able to enjoy a weekly coffee and fellowship time between the services.

Calvary’s Sunday School schedule also will change slightly this year with a new meeting time of 9:30 to 10:25 a.m. A Rally Day celebration in Fellowship Hall on Sept. 26 at 9:30 a.m. will welcome Sunday School children ages three years old through seventh grade and their families back to a new year of education and worship.

Continuing into the fall schedule will be the 1:15 p.m. Thursday afternoon worship service, which includes a brief spoken service and Holy Communion. Lasting approximately 40 minutes, this service has great appeal to the congregation’s older members who cannot attend a morning service.

On some Sunday evenings when the confirmation class meets, Calvary Lutheran also offers an evening service at 5 p.m. in the Sanctuary. This worship opportunity includes a brief spoken service with Holy Communion and a short meditation focused on the lessons and sermon of the morning services. Call the church office at 1-908-276-2418 for the Sunday evening schedule.

Fall activities also offer opportunities for participating in the adult, teen, hand-bell and children’s choirs.

Calvary Lutheran Church celebrated its 82nd anniversary on Sept. 16. The church is a congregation of the New Jersey Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) serving the Cranford-Westfield area and surrounding communities

The Rev. Carol A. Lindsay is pastor. Jeanne Elmuccio is music director.
