MIDDLE ISLAND, N.Y.– On a historic afternoon for New Jersey City University athletics, the Gothic Knight men’s golf team made its collegiate debut, as NJCU finished seventh overall in its first-ever event at the Golden Eagle Invitational, hosted by St. Joseph’s College (LI) on Friday at the Spring Lake Golf Club.
On the 18-hole, par 72, 6,445-yard course, Division I Manhattan College claimed first place with a 306 team score. Farmingdale State College was second at 320.
NJCU was sixth with a team score of 467. Freshman JOE O’HARA (Parlin, NJ/Sayreville War Memorial) posted the low score for the Knights in their debut with a 102, including two pars to place 26th individually. Freshman CONRAD OKONGO (Jersey City, NJ/Lincoln) had three pars and a 118.
On Tuesday, September 21, NJCU will tee off in the Purchase College Invitational at the Old Oaks Country Club in Purchase, NY, beginning at 11 a.m.
