PERTH AMBOY — Kerry Dyke, a student at Perth Amboy Catholic School, has won a billboard contest held by The Partnership for a Drug Free New Jersey. Dyke’s artwork, expressing the message “Choose a Bright Future, Avoid Alcohol” was selected from thousands of entries.
The Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey will present Dyke with her award at back to school night at the Perth Amboy Catholic School Upper Campus on Wednesday, Sept. 15. Mayor Wilda Diaz is scheduled to attend the presentation.
Dyke’s artwork can be seen on a billboard at the corner of Oak Street and Fayette Street in Perth Amboy. Next week, another billboard will go up at the Perth Amboy Train Station, Smith Street. Her artwork will also be featured on billboards in Sayreville and New Brunswick this month.
A calendar will be sent out to all New Jersey Schools featuring Dyke’s artwork on the cover and her biography on the back. In addition to Kerry Dyke, Perth Amboy Catholic School students Ileana Guerrero and Bria Roskowski were also chosen to have their artwork featured in the 2010-2011 Calendar for The Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey. Their art teacher is Rose Pennyfeather.
