North Brunswick Resident Cycles in Memory of Friend

North Brunswick resident Jeff Olsen will cycle 40 miles in the upcoming Hops to Hops Bike MS Ride in memory of his long time friend Scott Thibault of East Brunswick.

NORTH BRUNSWICK -Local North Brunswick resident Jeff Olsen will team up again this Sunday, Sept. 12, to cycle 40 miles of rolling hills in the Amwell Valley to and help find a cure for multiple sclerosis. Olsen is the catalyst and founder of TEAM LOVE: Scotty Love a bike MS team who will participate in the Bike MS “Hops to Hops” Ride for their second time.

For many years Olsen and girlfriend Linda McBride had enjoyed cycling for fun when one day a Bike MS logo a ride brochure caught his eye. Olsen began cycling with a renewed purpose, to help those living with MS. “As soon as I saw the logo I thought of my friend Scott Thibault who had passed away from complications of MS and cancer January 2007”, says Olsen.

Olsen and Thibault grew up together in East Brunswick and were long time friends. Olsen goes on to say, “Everyone knew and LOVED Scotty.” He and McBride quickly decided to put a Bike MS team together and promoted it on Olsen’s Facebook page where he asked friends to ride with or donate to TEAM LOVE: Scotty Love.

The first ride in 2009 TEAM LOVE: Scotty Love had 10 riders who raised over $5,300 for MS. Olsen, McBride and their core group of teammates Liz Wallace, Kathy Basso Schwint, Dave Agey, Paul Vaillancourt and Andrea Laign all caught the Bike MS fever and rode in other MS rides over the past year. Since last summer Olsen, his team and sponsors have raised over $15,000 to help those locally with MS. This weekend you can find Olsen and his team in their orange tie dye shirts as they “KEEP the LOVE Alive” by cycling for Thibault.
