Former Cougar Named Frontier League Pitcher of the Year

MARION, Ill.– Former Kean University baseball player Joe Augustine has won the Brian Tollberg Award as Pitcher of the Year in the independent baseball Frontier League.

Augustine leads the league with his 1.97 ERA and 121 strikeouts while being tied for third with 10 wins on the season and has helped pitch the Southern Illinois Miners to their first division title and the top seed in the Frontier League playoffs.


Overall this season Augustine in 10-3 in over 114 innings pitched allowing just 27 walks and 86 hits.

Augustine was also selected to the Frontier League All-Star game in his home stadium and was tabbed as the West Division starter where he tossed a shutout inning.
