Kean Women’s Soccer Nets 1-0 Win Over Manhattanville

UNION – Sophomore Ashley DiRocco scored the game’s lone goal, as the Kean University women’s soccer team opened the  season with a 1-0 win over Manhattanville College on Wednesday afternoon in Kean Alumni Stadium.

The Cougars (1-0) limited the Valiants (0-1) to just four shots, including one shot on goal to pick up the season opening victory.

DiRocco (pictured right) netted the game-winner midway through the first half, as she scored off the assist from sophomore Jaclyn Janicky in the 29th minute.

For the Valiants, goalkeeper Ali Bromson made five saves, while Cougar goalie Leandra Russo stopped one shot.

The Cougars host City College of New York on Saturday, September 4, on the opening day of the Cougar Classic.
