CLARK — The 2010-2011 school year officially commenced in the Clark Public School District on Sept. 1 with a morning Superintendent’s Convocation in the Arthur L. Johnson High School Auditorium facilitated by newly appointed Superintendent of Schools Kenneth Knops.
At the District-wide Convocation, administration was introduced, Teachers of the Year for 2010 were recognized, new staff members were introduced, tenure certificates were awarded to newly tenured teachers by administration, new changes in the district were discussed, the superintendent’s focus for the upcoming school year was shared, and Director of Curriculum and Instruction Vince Caputo presented a “Tools for Success” overview to staff. The morning concluded with a welcome by Assemblyman Jerry Green (D-Union County).
Green was introduced by Knops to an ovation by the 200 plus staff members in attendance. As part of his talk, Green thanked the teachers and administration for their commitment to youngsters, praised the district for the positive and forward thinking orientation of the morning convocation, and volunteered to return to district to have an open dialogue with administration, faculty, and staff and bring the views shared back to legislature and governor. The Assemblyman concluded his well-received talk to another round of applause.
Commenting on the assemblyman’s address, Knops remarked “Assemblyman Green’s talk was inspirational, motivational, and extremely timely. He thanked our staff for their commitment to children and set an extremely positive tone for the start of the school year.”
