ABERDEEN –Goodwill Industries of Southern New Jersey & Philadelphia will host three days worth of grand opening festivities at its Aberdeen Store & Donation Center (228 Route 35 at Cliffwood Avenue) starting Wednesday, Sept. 1. The spreading of Goodwill will include hourly prize drawings; live entertainment featuring Jellybean from Aberdeen from noon – 3 p.m. each day; a chance to win three grand prizes (a Wii, TomTom GPS or 19” Sylvania LCD HDTV); and of course, bargains galore.
A formal ribbon cutting presided over by local dignitaries will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 1 at 9 a.m. Grand opening festivities will continue through Friday, Sept. 3.
The 10,908 square feet Goodwill Store & Donation Center in Aberdeen is the nonprofit agency’s first location in Monmouth County. It is stocked with high-quality new and gently-used clothing, accessories, household items, toys, furniture and more. The site also hosts a donation center, where local residents can donate gently-used items that they no longer need in return for a tax deduction.
A nonprofit, community-based organization, Goodwill’s charitable mission is to provide job training and career services that help local residents with disabilities and disadvantages get to work. The large-scale collection and resale of donated goods fund these high caliber programs while contributing to the region’s recycling efforts.
Donations, including clothing, household items, furniture, toys, books, computers and other peripheral equipment, will be accepted at the rear of the store. Because Goodwill is a nonprofit, all donations are tax deductible by law and receipts are provided. Donors play a vital role in Goodwill’s ability to fulfill its charitable mission of helping people get to work.
Currently, Goodwill operates 18 other retail stores with donation centers throughout New Jersey and the City of Philadelphia. They are located in Atlantic City, Bayville, Bellmawr, Bordentown, Cardiff, Ewing, Hammonton, Glassboro, Lumberton, Maple Shade, Millville, Pennsauken, Stratford, Willingboro and Woodbury Heights as well as three locations in Philadelphia (Center City, South Philadelphia-2).
