TRENTON – New Jersey Lottery Acting Executive Director Carole Hedinger urged New Jersey Lottery players to get their Jersey Cash 5 tickets as early as possible in advance of tonight’s drawing, which is worth an estimated $1.4 million top prize.
“We thought yesterday’s $1.1 million jackpot was enormous, but this $1.4 million jackpot is one of the largest that we’ve ever seen for Jersey Cash 5,” said Hedinger, “For a Lottery game that is drawn daily, this is a milestone event, so we’re sure that today will be a very busy day for our retailers.”
“Player participation has been increasing by leaps and bounds since this jackpot roll began,” continued Hedinger, “Over a little more than a week, we have seen jackpots that started to increase by tens of thousands of dollars increase by over one hundred thousand dollars instead—and those are very, very impressive numbers.”
Hedinger also noted that tonight’s drawing will mark one of the rare times that the Jersey Cash 5 game had cracked a million-dollar milestone, adding, “Tonight’s drawing is larger than the $1.3 million drawing we had in 2004, and slightly less than the record-setting $1.8 million jackpot Jersey Cash 5 had back in October of 2007.”
“However, it’s nice to know that—even before the winning numbers are drawn tonight—this jackpot roll has already paid enormous dividends for our state’s students, our veterans, and our developmentally disabled citizens,” concluded Hedinger, “It is rare to see a daily drawing get this big. But the bigger this jackpot gets, the more people that can be aided through the revenue which is generated—and those persons, in the end, are the real winners of this and all our other jackpots.”
