CARTERET – Tonight, borough parks commissioner Vinny Bellino will be joined by Carteret residents and family members of Edward F. Szymborski for the dedication of the “Edward F. Szymborski Gazebo” at Carteret Park. The 7 p.m. ceremony will segue into the final concert of the borough’s “Concerts in the Park” summer series at Carteret Park, a performance by Frankie & Sherilyn.

Szymborski was born Jan. 29, 1929, and was a lifelong resident of Carteret. He married Arlene Aleck, and they raised three children, Edward A., Julie, and Cindy Abood. Edward attended Carteret High School where he developed an interest in music, performing with his father’s band, “The Serenaders.”

Following the war Edward returned to music, forming the musical group “The Ladds,” which performed actively until 1984 when it was renamed “Just Us.” His musical career ended when he suffered a stroke in 2003.
