Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Andrew N. Pappas, son of Jean Marie Pappas and Micheal A. Pappas, of South Amboy, recently completed Naval Nuclear Power Training Pipeline.
During the course with Nuclear Power Training Unit, Ballston Spa, N.Y., Pappas received instruction about nuclear theory, chemistry, physics, reactor operations, safety and security. Upon completion of the course, Pappas qualified as a Naval nuclear operator.
Pappas is a 2008 graduate of South Amboy High School and joined the Navy in September 2008.
Marine Corps Pfc. Michael Soto, Jr, a 2008 graduate of Elizabeth High School, recently graduated from the Marine Aviation Operations Specialist Course.
During the course with Marine Aviation Training Support Squadron One, Marine Aviation Support Training Support Group 21, Meridian, Miss., students are taught military correspondence, airfield operations, tactical squadron flight records and reports preparation, and Marine aviation wing and group headquarters command tasks.
Soto joined the Marine Corps in January 1990.
