ELIZABETH – A soldier from Elizabeth was killed in Afghanistan this weekend, supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

Spc. Pedro A. Millet Meletiche, 20, died Aug. 22 at Arghandab River Valley, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained when insurgents attacked his unit using an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 66th Armor Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colo.
