UNION — On Sunday, Aug, 29, girls ages 5 – 13 will come together at Liberty Hall Mansion and Museum (home to the first governor of New Jersey) to learn about self-esteem, manners, and a little history at the second annual OMG! Tea Party.

They will also have a chance to play games with staff in traditional Victorian dress, munch on gourmet treats, tour the museum’s tea rooms, and talk one-on-one with Miss New Jersey USA 2010 Chenoa Greene and Miss New Jersey Teen USA 2010 Erica Szymanski. The two current titleholders will be in attendance to make a special presentation on having self-esteem in today’s society.

“The OMG! Tea Party started in 2009 as a way to provide young girls with the opportunity to experience the tradition of tea and build self esteem,” said Shakira Johnson of Johnson PR & Events. “In general, today’s society does not promote the true value and beauty of women. As a result many young girls grow up with a lack of confidence and low self worth. The purpose of the OMG! Tea Party is to help counterbalance this trend by encouraging respect for one’s self and consideration for others, at the same time allowing the girls to have a wonderful experience that is truly out of the ordinary”

The OMG! Tea Party is the perfect event for a mother and daughter. Girls can also come with their grandmother, relative, family friend, BFFs (best friends forever) or even their father. Starting this year, the adults will sit at the table with their child making for a wonderful bonding experience. This year’s new location is the lawn of the Liberty Hall Mansion right next to their beautiful rose garden and carriage house. Additionally there will be activities that the children and adults can do together.

“I am very excited to attend the OMG! Tea Party! I absolutely love the idea of helping to improve young girls self esteem and am truly honored to be a part of such a wonderful event. Additionally the Liberty Hall Mansion is such a beautiful location to have a tea party. This is going to be a lot of fun, I can’t wait!” said Erica Szymanski, Miss New Jersey Teen USA 2010.

Participants that register in advance will be guaranteed admission (last year’s event sold out) and be treated to custom place cards and preferred seating. Additionally, the first 25 youth to register will receive a VIP gift bag sponsored by Simon Mall’s Newport Centre. The event cost is $35 per person in advance $40 per person at the door. The OMG! Tea Party is sponsored by Johnson PR & Events, First Class Fashions, Simon Mall’s Newport Centre, Carol’s Daughter, Cakeaholic Fine Bake Goods, Ana Beall’s Tea Room, Sweet Honey Child, and A Girl and Her Pearls.
