Mega Millions Jackpot Reaches $100 Million

STATE – Tonight’s Mega Millions jackpot could be worth up to $100 million, with a $68.5 million cash option.

There were no top prize winners in Tuesday’s drawing, but two New Jersey retailers sold second prize-winning tickets worth $250,000. One of the winning tickets was sold at Acme #7998, located in Runnemede in Camden County. The other lucky ticket was sold at Pathmark #186 in Newark.

In addition to the Garden State’s second prize winners, 44,526 other New Jersey players took home  $208,584 in prizes ranging from $2 to $10,000, according to New Jersey Lottery Acting Executive Director Carole Hedinger.

The winning numbers for the Tuesday, Aug. 17 drawing were: 11, 19, 40, 43, and 44 and the Gold Mega Ball number was 33.

This jackpot has been growing since July 16, when Mega Millions had its most recent jackpot winner. The odds of winning the jackpot are approximately one in 176 million. The odds of winning any of the Mega Millions prizes are approximately 1 in 40.

Saturday’s Powerball jackpot could be worth up to $80 million. Nobody matched all five numbers and the red Power Ball in Wednesday’s drawing. The winning numbers were: 04, 32, 33, 47 and 55 and the red Power Ball number was 39. The Power Play Multiplier was 3.

Mega Millions is currently played in 39 states. Drawings are held Tuesdays and Fridays at 11 p.m. Eastern Time and are televised locally on NJN. Powerball drawings are held Wednesdays and Saturdays at 11 p.m. Eastern Time and are also televised locally on NJN.
