The BlueClaws (31-21) tied the game in dramatic fashion in the eighth. Trailing 5-4 with one out, Jiwan James hit an inside the park home run to right center. Kyle Skipworth pushed the lead to 3-1 with a third inning RBI single, but after a walk, stolen base, and wild pitch moved Leandro Castro to third Sebastian Valle hit a fourth inning sac-fly to make it 3-2.

James put the Claws ahead in the fifth. With Korby Mintken on second and one out, James blasted his fourth home run of the season out to right to give Lakewood a 5-4 edge. The lead wouldn’t last.

With two outs in the seventh, Wes Long and Jeff Corsaletti each singled in runs off Zeid to put the Hoppers back in front. James would then hit his second homer of the night to ultimately force extras.

Friday at 7:05 pm, Ryan Howard will make a rehab start with the BlueClaws and will have his #29 jersey retired by the team. RHP Julio Rodriguez will start against LHP Chad James.
