MEUCHEN — Jean Brosnan-Barth of Metuchen was elected to the Middlesex County College Board of Trustees. A 2010 graduate, she was elected by her classmates and will serve a one-year term.
Brosnan-Barth came to Middlesex after a career in marketing at Citibank, followed by a stint as a stay-at-home mom.
“After the kids had grown, I decided to resume my career,” she said. “But I didn’t find the business world very fulfilling. I started thinking I wanted to work in the medical field. Whenever I would visit friends or relatives in the hospital, I was struck by the professionalism of the staff and the care they exhibited. I thought I’d like to be part of that.”
She enrolled in the radiography program at Middlesex and graduated in May. She is now working at St. Peter’s University Hospital.
Each year, the graduating class elects a member to serve on the 12-member College Board of Trustees. Her term will go until June 30, 2011.
“I loved Middlesex and will miss it,” she said. “But my election to the board will allow me to contribute and give back to my alma mater.”
