Community Gardening Program To Grill Vegetables At Haitian Pride Day Event

ELIZABETH—The Come Grow With Us Community Gardening Program will be teaming up with the Union County Division of Aging to grill fresh vegetables at the upcoming Haitian Pride Day, scheduled for Thursday, Aug.12.

Haitian Pride Day is an annual activity which is planned and hosted by Elizabeth based Jefferson Park Ministries.  Due to the Winter Earthquake of 2010, the demand for services by the non-profit, which has been the headquarters of the earthquake relief program, has increased substantially.  This year’s Pride Day is expected to be the largest to date.

Vegetables will be grilled at the Jefferson Park Ministries site, adjacent to the Come Grow With Us Community Garden, and will be available from 1- 3 p.m.

The mission of the Come Grow With Us Community Gardening Program is to create a positive atmosphere that is not only successful in planting, sharing, instructing, and donating, but is sustainable as well.
