PERTH AMBOY…Raritan Bay Medical Center is sponsoring an Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia Caregivers Support Group meeting Tuesday, August 10, 6:30 to 8 p.m. Caregivers of individuals with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia are invited to attend. WOODBRIDGE…Raritan Bay Medical Center is sponsoring a Breast Cancer Stage III and beyond Tuesday, August 10, 6 to 7 p.m. at the Medical Pavilion at Woodbridge, 740 Route 1 North, Iselin. A variety of education topics, special activities and relaxation techniques will provide coping skills and encouragement for those diagnosed with stage III or IV breast cancer. OLD BRIDGE…Raritan Bay Medical Center’s is sponsoring a Diabetes Support Group meeting Wednesday, August 11, 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the hospital’s Old Bridge location, off of Ferry Rd. between routes 9 and 18. Support group leader Debbie Petrizzo, RN, invites anyone coping with diabetes as well as their spouse or caregiver to attend, share experiences and learn the latest diabetes management information. The program will be held in Auxiliary Hall B and C, lower level of the Old Bridge Medical Arts Building, adjacent to the medical center. Participants determine discussion topics. PERTH AMBOY…Raritan Bay Medical Center’s monthly tour of its Dr. Sam Gordon Berkow Maternity Pavilion and family health information open house will be held Thursday, August 12, at 7 p.m.

Newly expectant parents are invited to take the tour and learn about the maternity unit’s modern comforts designed to provide a calm and relaxing birthing experience. As part of the event information is provided, in an open house format, about child car seat safety, guided imagery and body mechanics training for use during labor, nutritional information for mother and child, how to pick a pediatrician and an infant CPR demonstration.

Participants are asked to meet in the main lobby of the hospital’s Perth Amboy location, 530 New Brunswick Ave. Registration suggested, call 732.324.5300.

PERTH AMBOY…Raritan Bay Medical Center is sponsoring a Bariatric Weight Loss Support Group meeting Thursday, August 19, 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the hospital’s Perth Amboy location, 530 New Brunswick Ave. For those who have had weight loss surgery, contemplating weight loss surgery or just trying to maintain a healthy weight, facilitator Lauretta Thompson, RN, MSN, CRNI, will lead discussions on the concerns surrounding weight loss surgery as well as its successes. PERTH AMBOY…Raritan Bay Medical Center is sponsoring a one day Childbirth Education / Lamaze Class Saturday, August 21, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The class is designed to help future parents better understand the childbearing process. A registered nurse with special training in labor, delivery and childcare techniques will facilitate the class. It will be held in Centennial Hall, 530 New Brunswick Ave., Perth Amboy. WOODBRIDGE…Raritan Bay Medical Center is sponsoring a Breast Cancer Support Survivor Network Tuesday, August 24, 6 to 7 p.m., at the Medical Pavilion at Woodbridge, 740 Route 1 North, Iselin. The support group is for men and women currently in treatment or have completed breast cancer treatment, to share experiences and learn tips to deal with everyday issues. Program group leader Beth Rothman, MSPT, M.Ed., CLT, has over 25 years experience as a physical therapist, is a certified lymphedema therapist who specializes in breast cancer rehabilitation and has undergone treatment for breast cancer.
