Authorities Investigating Elizabeth Homicide

ELIZABETH — The Union County Homicide Task Force is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the city of Elizabeth last night, Union County Prosecutor Theodore J. Romankow said.

Authorities were called to 875 Anna Street around 10:30 p.m. Monday night on reports of shots fired, said Romankow. When police arrived, they discovered two victims. One, a 15-year-old, was shot in the ankle and transported to University Hospital where he will undergo surgery.

The second victim, a 16-year-old, was pronounced dead a short time later at Trinitas Hospital in Elizabeth, said Romankow. Authorities have not released the names of the victims.

It appears that multiple shots were fired at the victims, officials said. The Homicide Task Force, Sheriff’s Department and Elizabeth Police are investigating.

No arrests have been made so far and authorities are asking anyone with information about the crime to call Union County Crimestoppers at 1-908-654-TIPS.
