NEW BRUNSWICK — Police are actively searching for a man who entered a residence on Somerset Street and sexually assaulted one minor, and engaged in lewd conduct with another, Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce J. Kaplan and New Brunswick Police Director Peter Mangarella announced Monday.

Middlesex County Sheriff’s Officer Chris Coen developed a sketch of the suspect, who was described as a Hispanic male, thin build, approximately 40 years of age, with a thick moustache. He was wearing a black cap (with the letters AB in white lettering on the back), a silver wristwatch on his left wrist, a white T-shirt, black pants, and black sneakers.

An investigation by Detective Daniel Dominguez of the New Brunswick Police Department and Investigator James Kelly of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office determined that two females were in their second-floor residence on Somerset Street, when the unidentified man entered their residence, went into a bedroom, sexually assaulted one minor and engaged in lewd conduct with the other young female. The incident occurred at approximately 8:30 a.m. on July 19, authorities said. When the one minor went to call for help, the unidentified assailant ran out of the residence. One of the females did call the police immediately.

Police are asking anyone with information on the assault, or who may be able to identify the man in the sketch, to call Detective Dominguez at (732) 745-5200, or Investigator Kelly at (732) 745-3600.
