NEXUS NJ Juried Art Show: Call For Artist Entries

RAHWAY–Arts Guild New Jersey is now accepting entries for NEXUS NJ, a juried art show open to artists living and/or working in New Jersey. The deadline for submissions is 4:00 PM on Friday, August 13, 2010. Artists will be notified of the judge’s decision in early September.

NEXUS NJ is open to artists working in any medium or style, in two and three dimensions. Two-dimensional work should be no larger than 36” x 36” framed; it must be wired with picture-hanging wire. Free-standing work should be no larger than 40” x 40” x 72” tall, and not weigh more than 100 lbs. NEXUS NJ will on exhibit at Arts Guild New Jersey, 1670 Irving Street in Rahway, NJ, from October 15 – November 5, 2010.


There are two ways to enter, by mail and online via Arts Guild New Jersey’s website The non-refundable entry fee is $25/3 entries for current members of Arts Guild New Jersey or $30/3 entries for non-members. The complete prospectus is available at or by calling 1-732-381-7511.

The juror is Sharon Matt Atkins, Associate Curator of Exhibitions at the Brooklyn Museum. Atkins is the coordinating curator for the Brooklyn Museum’s current exhibition Andy Warhol: The Last Decade (June 18-September 12, 2010). Prior to moving to Brooklyn, she was the Assistant Curator at the Currier Museum of Art, Manchester, New Hampshire from 2004-2009. There she was responsible for modern and contemporary art, organizing exhibitions from the collection as well as traveling loan shows – among them Andy Warhol: Pop Politics, which traveled to the Neuberger Museum of Art, and Spotlight New England: Kirsten Reynolds. Previously she was a Research assistant in the Department of Contemporary Art, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and worked at the Jane Voorhees Zimmerli Art Museum and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. A graduate of Iowa State University, Atkins received an M.A. and Ph.D. from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, New Jersey.
