WESTFIELD — The American Legion Post 3 in Westfield is sponsored eight candidates to attend this prestigious Boys State Leadership Conference at Rider University from June 20 – 25.

The boys set up a mock-city, county and state government. The delegates learned about our Democratic form of government. More than 800 delegates attended the conference. The young men were assigned to either the Nationalist Party or to the Patriot Party. They either ran for office or help someone from their party get elected.

The final elections were for Governor and two Senators. These three winners will be sent to the American Legion Boys Nation along with other winning delegates representing each state in America. These young men will have the opportunity to meet President Barack Obama.
