Six New Jersey Junior Golfers Advance To The Trusted Choice Big “I” National Championship

HIGHTSTOWN – Battling intense heat, Ethan Wall of Brielle shot a 70-73 – 143 total to place first in the Boys division, and Kuriko Tsukiyama of Bogota shot a 75-69 – 144 total to place first in the Girls division at the 36-hole New Jersey state qualifier for the Trusted Choice Big “I” National Championship which took place July 6, at Peddie Golf Club in Hightstown.

Ethan Wall won over Sean Elliott of Westfield on the first hole of a sudden death playoff putting Elliott in second place with a score of 69-74- 143 total. Timothy Colanta of Monroe Township placed third with a score of 71-73 – 144 total. Charles Cai of West Windsor 71-75 – 146 total tied for fourth place with Thomas Barnes of Oradell with a score of 71-75 – 146 total.

More than 100 junior golfers competed in qualifying tournaments around New Jersey to reach the state tournament. The state tournament was sponsored by the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of New Jersey (IIABNJ).

The top six finishers from the state tournament now advance to the Trusted Choice Big “I” National Championship which will take place July 26-30th at Old York Country Club of Chesterfield in Chesterfield, New Jersey to compete against top junior golfers from around the nation. This is the second time in the tournament’s history that the national championship will take place in New Jersey.
