ELIZABETH — Authorities arrested a Somerset County man on Friday and charged him with first degree kidnapping and first degree aggravated sexual assault, Union County Prosecutor Theodore J. Romankow announced.

Donald Andrews, 40, was charged in connection with a June 2 case in which prosecutors allege that he engaged in improper sexual contact with a minor. The victim in the case contacted the Roselle Park Police Department, who launched an investigation. Andrews was identified as the suspect in the case and was charged with fourth degree criminal sexual contact, but remained at large for several weeks according to Romankow.

Police arrested him on Friday at an address in Bernards Township. During the investigation that that followed the arrest, additional charged were filed today in connection with a separate incident that occurred on Oct. 31, 2009.

In that case, Andrews is accused of holding an adult woman against her will and sexually assaulting her, authorities said. That assault occurred in Elizabeth. Andrews is being held on $600,000 bail at the Union County Jail, Romankow said.

Authorities ask anyone with information related to either case to call Detective Peter Klaskin at (908) 527-4589.
