LINDEN — Three Linden Police Department veteran officers were promoted to the rank of sergeant last week in a ceremony at Linden City Hall.

The courtroom was filled with colleagues, family, and friends of the three officers. Detective Alvaro Goncalves, a 19-year veteran, Officer Brian A. Fech, a 12-year veteran, and Officer Joseph A. Cacioppo, an 11-year veteran, were each sworn in by City Clerk Joseph Bodek.

Police Chief Michael F. Boyle thanked Linden Mayor Richard J. Gerbounka and the City Council’s Personnel and Finance Committee for approving the promotions. The three new sergeants will be assigned to the Uniformed Services Division as patrol supervisors.

Refreshments for the ceremony were provided by the Linden Police Superior Officers Association.
