WOODBRIDGE—Wegmans Food Markets in Woodbridge celebrates its student employees receiving scholarships through the Wegmans Employee Scholarship Program. Since the annual program began 27 years ago, Wegmans has awarded more than 24,000 of its employees with scholarships totaling more than $77 million.
“Nothing is more gratifying than seeing our employees achieve their dreams and knowing that our scholarship program is one of the reasons they are able to do so,” says Joe Sofia, district manager, Wegmans. “This program has made a real difference in the lives of these young people.”
Part-time employee scholarship recipients are eligible to receive up to $1,500 a year for four years and full-time employees are eligible to receive up to $2,200 a year for four years. To be eligible for the scholarship, each student must keep a high academic average, work a minimum number of hours and maintain a good employment record.
