EAST BRUNSWICK — Mayor David Stahl has declared a water emergency and all outside watering is banned in East Brunswick.

Middlesex Water Company has had an electrical problem with their intake pump station which is limiting the amount of water available at this time. The water is safe to drink and there is adequate water for fire protection, Stahl said. This emergency will be in effect until the equipment is repaired and the heat wave is past.

Also, due to heat wave the township has opened a cooling center at the Senior Center that will remain opened until 9 p.m. today and tomorrow or as conditions warrant.
