WOODBRIDGE…Raritan Bay Medical Center is sponsoring a Breast Cancer Support Group workshop for those newly diagnosed with cancer, every Wednesday, 9 to 10 a.m., at the Medical Pavilion at Woodbridge, 740 Route 1 North, Iselin. The workshop will focus on explaining medical procedures and treatments and providing practical advice and support to help participants reduce their apprehension, confusion and anxiety. Program group leader Beth Rothman, MSPT, M.Ed., CLT, has over 25 years experience as a physical therapist, is a certified lymphedema therapist that specializes in breast cancer rehabilitation and has undergone treatment for breast cancer. OLD BRIDGE…Raritan Bay Medical Center is sponsoring an Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia Caregivers Support Group meeting Monday, July 12, 6:30 to 8 p.m., at its Old Bridge location. Caregivers of individuals with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia are invited to attend. The meeting will be held in Auxiliary Hall C located on the lower level of the Medical Arts Building, adjacent to the hospital on Ferry Rd. between Routes 9 & 18. Refreshments will be served. PERTH AMBOY…Raritan Bay Medical Center is sponsoring an HIV support group meeting every Monday, at 6 p.m. Anyone diagnosed with or caring for someone infected with HIV is welcome to attend. Meetings are held at the hospital’s Perth Amboy location, 530 New Brunswick Ave. For location and to register, call 732.324.5022. A variety of education topics, special activities and relaxation techniques will provide coping skills and encouragement for those diagnosed with stage III or IV breast cancer. OLD BRIDGE…Raritan Bay Medical Center’s is sponsoring a Diabetes Support Group meeting Wednesday, July 14, 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the hospital’s Old Bridge location, off of Ferry Rd. between routes 9 and 18. Support group leader Debbie Petrizzo, RN, invites anyone coping with diabetes as well as their spouse or caregiver to attend, share experiences and learn the latest diabetes management information. The program will be held in Auxiliary Hall B and C, lower level of the Old Bridge Medical Arts Building, adjacent to the medical center. Participants determine discussion topics. PERTH AMBOY…Raritan Bay Medical Center’s monthly tour of its Dr. Sam Gordon Berkow Maternity Pavilion and family health information open house will be held Thursday, July 15, at 7 p.m.

Newly expectant parents are invited to take the tour and learn about the maternity unit’s modern comforts designed to provide a calm and relaxing birthing experience. As part of the event information is provided, in an open house format, about child car seat safety, guided imagery and body mechanics training for use during labor, nutritional information for mother and child, how to pick a pediatrician and an infant CPR demonstration.

Participants are asked to meet in the main lobby of the hospital’s Perth Amboy location, 530 New Brunswick Ave. Registration suggested, call 732.324.5300.

PERTH AMBOY…Raritan Bay Medical Center is sponsoring a Bariatric Weight Loss Support Group meeting Thursday July 15, 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the hospital’s Perth Amboy location, 530 New Brunswick Ave. For those who have had weight loss surgery, contemplating weight loss surgery or just trying to maintain a healthy weight, facilitator Lauretta Thompson, RN, MSN, CRNI, will lead discussions on the concerns surrounding weight loss surgery as well as its successes. A registered nurse with special training in labor, delivery and childcare techniques will facilitate the class. It will be held in Centennial Hall, 530 New Brunswick Ave., Perth Amboy.
