EDISON — A Brooklyn man has been arrested and charged with luring a 14-year-old girl in the township, Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce J. Kaplan and Edison Police Chief Thomas J. Bryan announced today.

Sean C. Edwards, 37,  was arrested on June 30 and was charged with luring and unlawful possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

Edwards is being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center in North Brunswick in lieu of $125,000 bail that was set following his arrest. He must post the full amount before he can be released from custody, authorities said.

Edwards was arrested and charged following an investigation by Edison Police Detective John Canavera, who determined that Edwards was driving a van at about 2:30 p.m. on June 30, when he allegedly solicited a 14-year-old girl as she was walking in the vicinity of Vineyard Road and Whitman Avenue.

The girl refused the ride and called her mother, who called police. Edwards was apprehended a short time later in his van on Whitman Avenue. Police recovered an undisclosed quantity of a drug, Ecstasy, from his van, authorities said.

Authorities are asking anyone who has information on this, or similar incidents,  to call Detective Alan Sciarrillo of the Edison Police Department at 1-732-248-7561.
