LINDEN — The Linden Retired Men’s Club held a Hawaiian luau party for members and their guests on Tuesday, June15, at the John T. Gregorio Recreation Center.
There were 120 seniors attending. Everyone was dressed in Hawaiian clothes and each attendee was greeted at the door with an “Aloha” and Hawaiian lei. The hall had Polynesian and tropical decorations. There were pineapples and a Hawaiian centerpiece on each table. Tiki bars were at each end of the hall.
The catered event had Polynesian music, songs and hula dancers from the Melekini Polynesian Dance Studio performed for the members and their guests. The seniors were then dressed in grass skirts and taught to hula.
The Retired Men’s Club is the largest and most active club for senior citizens of Linden, sponsored by the Department of Public Property and Community Services. It is open to all senior men and women of Linden. The club continues to grow due to the many social events such as themed parties, trips to dinner shows and Atlantic City.
The club meets every Tuesday, September through June, at 1 p.m. at the JTG Recreation Center. Anyone wishing to join may call the center at 1-908-474-8627.
