NEWARK — Lloyd Turner and Jason Perry combined for eight hits and seven RBI to lead the Lancaster Barnstormers to a 13-3 victory over the Newark Bears Monday afternoon at Bears & Eagles Riverfront Stadium.

The Barnstormers banged out a franchise record 21 hits, 11 of which came in the final two innings, when Lancaster scored 10 of its runs. Lancaster broke a 2-2 tie with a run in the seventh inning off starter and loser Paul Fagan (3-5), who surrendered only three runs and 10 hits in his seven innings of work, when Aaron Herr drove in Turner with a single.

The floodgates opened in the eighth and ninth as the Barnstormers scored five runs in each frame off two different Bear relievers. Perry hit a two-run homer in the eighth inning off reliever Chris Vasami to highlight the eighth inning and Perry had a three-run double in the ninth off reliever Matt Melody to spearhead that rally.

Pat Overholt (1-0) earned the victory for pitching one inning of scoreless relief in his first appearance for the Barnstormers.
