Local Residents Earn Awards at Felician College Commencement

LODI – At Felician College’s forty-sixth annual commencement exercises held on Sunday, May 23, two local residents who are graduates of the class of 2010 received awards.

Zaclin M. Zacharias of Edison was elected Student of the Year by the faculty and the Committee for Student Affairs at Felician College. The award is presented annually to a traditional, full-time student who has demonstrated extraordinary character, scholarship, leadership and service.


She also received the Sister Mary Alma Award which is presented to the student who most exhibits the qualities and characteristics of Sister Mary Alma, founder of the Nursing Program at Felician College. This student incorporates the values and beliefs of the mission and philosophy of Felician College and demonstrates extraordinary service to the college. The award recognizes exemplary achievement in nursing and the potential to contribute to the advancement of the nursing profession through theory, practice, and research.

Zacharias was named to Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges, in recognition of outstanding merit and accomplishment as a student of Felician College.

Conrad Symber of South Amboy earned the 2010 Outstanding Academic Achievement Award from the Educational Opportunity Fund of the State of New Jersey Commission on Higher Education.
