Piscataway Student Earns Recognition In 2010 Sejong Writing Competition

EDISON – Shafeeq Ibraheem, an eighth grader at The Wardlaw-Hartridge School in North Edison, received Honorable Mention distinction in the 2010 Sejong Writing Competition, which is sponsored by The Sejong Cultural Society in Chicago, Ill.

Ibraheem crafted an impressive junior essay on Korean folktales in which he detailed the importance and meaning of a folktale he researched, and explained the significance of the folktale’s characters and moral message. His accomplishment and essay will be highlighted in Korea Times Chicago newspaper and he earned a $50 prize.

The Sejong Cultural Society was formed to advance awareness and understanding of Korea’s cultural heritage among people in the United States.

Shafeeq is the son of Dr. Sarafa Ibraheem and Mrs. Shakirat Ibraheem of Piscataway.
