High School Students Get Lesson On Abusive Relationships

RAHWAY — In May, students at Rahway High School attended an assembly about dating violence and prevention.

Students from the Rutgers University theater and awareness group SCREAM performed a sketch in which several friends witness a volatile, abusive relationship within their peer group.  After the performance, the actors remained in character in order to answer questions from the audience.

SCREAM, which stands for Students Challenging Reality and Educating Against Myths, performs at high schools and colleges throughout the state.  This assembly was made possible by the efforts of Monica Schiffman, a school social worker at Rahway High School.  For further information on SCREAM, visit http://sexualassault.rutgers.edu/scream.htm.
