Union Catholic Performing Arts Company Announces Summer Shows

SCOTCH PLAINS – The Union Catholic Performing Arts Company has announced its summer show schedule. Returning to the stage after the successful production of “Love (Awkwardly)” at both Union Catholic High School and the Manhattan Theatre Source, playwrights and Union Catholic graduates John Rotondo ’07 and Maryann Carroll Carolan UC ’86 have once again collaborated with a group of students to write and produce a new play, “Something About Friendship.”

Through the course of the play, friendships are made, broken, tested and strengthened as eight friends prepare for a surprise party. The cast features Katie Brown ’13 of Edison, Rob Krienke ’10 of Mountainside, Maeve Lynskey ’12 of Cranford, Conor McDonough ’10 of Berkeley Heights, Sammie Mellina ’10 of Westfield, Justine Mujica ’10 of Union, Brandon Rotondo ’12 of Colonia, and Jonathan Sagendorf ’11 of Elizabeth. Performances are June 24, 25 and 26 at 7 p.m. at Union Catholic, 1600 Martine Ave., Scotch Plains. For more information, call (908) 889-1600. Tickets are $5 student/senior, $10 standard. The second summer performance will be An Evening of One-Acts and Dance 2010. Three of the four acts are directed by members of the Union Catholic Class of 2010. The acts include: Some Things Just Can’t Be Saved written by Rob Krienke and Justine Mujica and directed by Rob Krienke; The Brute by Anton Chekhov and directed by Conor McDonough; Wedding Duet directed by Justine Mujica; Come and Go by Samuel Beckett and directed by John Rotondo; Traffic and Dash choreographed by Emily Eger Donahue ’98 and If I Were a Millionaire choreographed by Heather Johdos. The show will run July 29, 30 and 31 at 7pm. Tickets are available online at www.ShowTix4u.com
