ELIZABETH — A Roselle man was charged with two counts of attempted aggravated assault and weapons offenses in relation to an April 16 attack on police officers outside of the Kings Inn Motel in Rahway, Union County Prosecutor Theodore J. Romankow announced this week.
According to the investigation, Fritz Louissaint, 58, attempted to attack two uniformed officers while they were attempting to calm the man down. Louissaint pulled a weapon from his coat and lunged at the officers, said Romankow.
The officers fired at the suspect, injuring the man. He was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Medical Center and was arrested Tuesday afternoon following his release from the hospital, said Romankow.
He is currently being held on $162,500 bail at the Union County Jail in Elizabeth.
