Middle School Students Take Part In Spring Concert

RAHWAY — On Friday, May 21, Rahway Middle School’s instrumental music program presented its annual spring concert. The program, consisting of over 200 students, is under the direction of Meg Spatz and Amara VanWyk.

The night began with the sixth grade Concert Band.  They performed four selections including Iroquois Sunrise by Gregory B. Rudgers.  This featured flutist Bridget Kniesal and clarinetist Jordan Rudy.  Next, the seventh and eighth grade Symphonic Band took the stage. Their selections included American Folk Suite by James Curnow and Portent by Randall Standridge.


To end the night, the Wind Ensemble performed three numbers.  This select group of seventh and eighth grade band members also featured solo performances by clarinetist Sara Beenders, alto saxophonist Thalia Santacruz, trumpeter Phillip Schroeder, and drummer Emily Gottlick.
