Celebrating Safety

RAHWAY – Each year, the safety patrols at Franklin Elementary School in Rahway are rewarded with a trip and a pizza lunch.  On May 25, this year’s patrols skated the day away at United Skates in Woodbridge and then returned to school and enjoyed some delicious pizza and soda.  Now, for the next three weeks, the veteran patrols will train their replacements, which are fourth grade students that were selected by their teachers to serve for the 2010-2011 school year.

The Safety Patrols at Franklin School are responsible for helping teachers supervise entry into the building each morning.  In addition, patrols help individual classroom teachers with tasks that include walking younger students to after school programs and distributing homework.
