ELIZABETH–On Wednesday, June 2, Elizabeth Public Schools will hold its third annual Healthy Leap Into Summer health expo. The event will be held at the Dunn Sports Center on Pearl Street.
Healthy Leap Into Summer is a one day program designed to promote healthy lifestyles to high school students while addressing the epidemic of teen obesity. At the event, more than 1,000 students will participate in workshops, receive health screenings, view cooking demonstrations and have the opportunity to peruse interactive exhibits. Students will also participate in a rally and competitions including healthy rap and dance contests, and an “Iron Chef” cook-off. Winners of these competitions will receive $500.00 scholarships.
Elizabeth Public Schools’ Superintendent Pablo Muñoz will be Master of Ceremonies and a representative from the Alliance for a Healthier Generation will speak at the event.
