Elizabeth Resident Receives Undergraduate Degree

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Emmanuel Amanfor, a resident of Elizabeth, was among over 950 students from Providence College who received undergraduate degrees during the college’s 92nd Commencement Exercises held on Sunday, May 16. Amanfor received a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology.

The commencement address was delivered by Emmy Award-winning news anchor Ann Curry of NBC’s Today show and the newsmagazine Dateline NBC. Curry, who was awarded an honorary Doctor of Journalism degree, has been lauded for her reporting on global humanitarian issues by tackling subjects like ethnic cleansing in Sudan and genocide in Kosovo, among others. She also has reported extensively on the War on Terror from the Middle East.
