ELIZABETH — Members of the Union County Homicide Task Force are investigating the shooting death of a 43-year-old man who was discovered in Elizabeth early Sunday morning.
Police were summoned to the 400 Block of Irvington Avenue in Elizabeth around 1:45 a.m. on May 9, according to Union County Prosecutor Theodore J. Romankow. There, police discovered Anthony Cook suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to University Hospital in Newark in critical condition. He was pronounced dead around 2:45 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
This remains an active investigation and authorities are asking anyone with information on the death of Cook to contact Union County Crimestoppers at (908) 654-TIPS or http://www.uctip.org. A reward of up to $5,000 is available for information that leads to the arrest and indictment of the suspects responsible in the death of Anthony Cook.
All calls are kept confidential and anonymous, authorities said.
