On Friday, May 7, NJDOT will reopen the ramp from Smith Street (CR 656) westbound to Route 9 northbound. NJDOT will also shift traffic and close the right lane on Smith Street eastbound to establish a new work zone on the southern side of the bridge. One lane will be maintained on Smith Street eastbound. This traffic pattern will remain in place for approximately two months.
The $1.9 million project, which includes replacing the bridge structure, resurfacing the approaches and installing new guide rail and sidewalks, is anticipated to be completed in fall 2010.
Variable message signs will notify motorists of upcoming traffic pattern changes. NJDOT provides emergency roadway information, construction schedule updates and real time traffic information and images at www.nj511.info
