SCOTCH PLAINS – Union Catholic High School juniors Tim Connell of Clark, Vincent LaRocca of Winfield Park and Sean Sarra of Linden (pictured left to right) have been selected to attend the American Legion Boys State program this summer at Rider University.

Connell is a Student Ambassador and a varsity swim team member. LaRocca is a Student Ambassador and member of the varsity baseball team. Sarra is a member of the World Language Honor Society and Forensics Team.

The American Legion Boys State is a participatory program where each student becomes a part of the operation of his local, county and state government. Participants are exposed to the rights and privileges, the duties and the responsibilities of a franchised citizen. The training is objective and practical with city, county and state governments operated by the students elected to the various offices. Activities include legislative sessions, court proceedings, law enforcement presentations, assemblies, bands, chorus and recreational programs.
