LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Kean University men’s and women’s track and field teams had a limited number of competitors at the Elliston Invitational at Lock Haven University on Saturday afternoon.
Freshman Kevin Persson qualified for the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships later this month in the 400-meter dash, as hit time of 49.99 seconds placed him eighth.
Rookie Barry Clark led a pair of finishers in the top 10 in the 200 meter dash, placing a team-best third in 22.60 seconds, while Jason Romsak placed 10th in 23.84 seconds.
Freshman Jescy Rodriguez placed seventh in the 3000-meter steeplechase, finishing in a time of 11:07.80.
In the 100-meter dash, freshman Joe Badru placed ninth in a time of 11.47 seconds, while the 400-meter relay team of freshman Imoleme Ilogienboh, Badru, Clark and sophomore Aaron Lucas placed third in an ECAC qualifying time of 42.41 seconds.
Lucas added a pair of top 10 finishes in the jumping events, placing tied for third in the high jump (1.85 meters) and 10th in the long jump (6.76 meters), as his distance in the long jump met ECAC qualifying standards.
The Cougars also had a pair of top 10 finishes in the javelin throw, as freshmen Max Gordon and Jason Romsak placed sixth (53.82 meters) and tenth (44.73 meters).
In the women’s meet, junior Asha Winters placed seventh in the 200-meter dash (27.65 meters) to lead the Cougars.
Kean competes at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships next Saturday, May 8, at The College of New Jersey.
