RAHWAY – Recently voted New Jersey’s Favorite Dance Company, New Jersey Ballet returns to UCPAC on Saturday, May 1 at 8PM, with Tappin’ with the Ballet and on Sunday, May 2 at 3PM with a double header that features two childhood favorites, Peter and the Wolf and Beauty and the Beast.

Tappin’ with the Ballet is a historic collaboration between two of New Jersey’s top dance companies; New Jersey Ballet and New Jersey Tap Dance Ensemble for an evening of dance that showcases these two dance styles.  And to top it all, the finale, Top Hat Medley features the historic pairing of New Jersey Ballet’s dancers with members of the New Jersey Tap Dance Ensemble in a jazzy, high energy ballroom piece. Top Hat Medley was co-choreographed by The Tap Ensemble director Deborah Mitchell and Broadway dancer/choreographer James Kinney, to excerpts from Top Hat, White Tie and Tails, I Could Have Danced All Night and Begin the Beguine.   The critics are raving about this show! “Compelling mystery and emotional depth.” “A significant addition to NJB’s repertoire.” “Very sharp and up to date.” “The dancers look terrific.”

The entire family will be captivated by New Jersey Ballet’s performance of Peter and the Wolf and Beauty and the Beast, two childhood favorites in one matinee with original “storyteller” narrations so even the littlest theater-goer can keep up with ease.   In Peter & the Wolf, courageous Peter saves his woodland friends from the wolf, in a colorful ballet set to the familiar Prokofiev score. In Beauty & the Beast, goodness and love break a magic spell and turn an enchanted Beast back into a handsome prince, set to the music of Ravel.
