Volunteers Helped Nearly 2,000 Linden Residents With Tax Forms

LINDEN – The city Department of Public Property and Community Services has concluded its 2010 Free Income Tax Assistance Program.  This program, which was held at various sites throughout the community, between Feb. 5 and April 15, assisted nearly 2,000 residents with the federal and state tax forms.

The volunteers reached approximately 100 homebound individuals, and provided assistance at Tremley Point Recreation Center and the John T. Gregorio Recreation Center.


The Department of Public Property and Community Services extended special thanks to the following volunteers for devoting their time, energy and expertise:  John Italia, Catherine Shaffer, Dick Campbell, Tillie Kolesar, Howard Horn, Barbara Slaughter, Bob Gibbons, Helen Karafa, Richard Sczaro.

These volunteers will be receiving certificates of appreciation from the Department of Public Property and Community Services and Internal Revenue Service on Senior Citizen Day in May.
